2. Design and Develop Digital-Age Learning Experiences and Assessments
Teachers design, develop, and evaluate authentic learning experiences and assessment incorporating contemporary tools and resources to maximize content learning in context and to develop the knowledge, skills, and attitudes identified in the NETS. Teachers:
NETS 2a
a. design or adapt relevant learning experiences that incorporate digital tools and resources to promote student learning and creativity.
In the first example, students have to create a web using Kidspiration detailing what they learned about plants in their research that was done online. Then, they use their creativity to create a story from the viewpoint of a plant in StoryJumper.
Artifact 2 has students recording poems on PowerPoint to work on their fluency, responding to questions in a blog to reflect on their thinking, and then creating a presentation with PhotoPeach using poems that they created online. Both learning experiences were created to meet the CCSS to promote student learning. Artifact 3 shows a concept map that was used to plan an opinion writing experience for my students. What I liked about completing the concept map was that it helped me to reflect on the purpose of the learning and also it helped me to plan out the details of the experience.

b. develop technology-enriched learning environments that enable all students to pursue their individual curiosities and become active participants in setting their own educational goals, managing their own learning, and assessing their own progress.
In the first example, students are able to set their own goals and see if those goals have been met with the medals that are posted by the standards. Students can move up and down grade levels based on their needs. If they are struggling with a concept they can move down and look at previous years. If they need to be challenged more or have a curiosity about a different math topic, they can move up. Although I monitor to determine if they are making progress, the students decide the path they need to take. I included a link to the site, the list of some of the choices, and also a report of some of the mastered concepts from a student.
The second artifact is a site that I learned about in Technology to Enhance Learning. I plan to use it in the next school year and currently, my personal children are using it. My oldest son will be taking the PSAT next year, so he is already working on the site to review for the assessment. I like the way that it is challenging for them and they can manage their own learning and track their progress. In this artifact, I included the login site along with my reflection on it during my course.

c. customize and personalize learning activities to address students' diverse learning styles, working strategies, and abilities using digital tools and resources.
Artifact 1 is my Student Links Page from my classroom website. The links on the page are meant to differentiate for the different learning styles, and it provides access to many different digital learning experiences. In order to meet the diverse needs of my students I have included websites such as Ixl, Xtra Math, and Learning.com to help meet the diverse needs in my classroom. There are also sites that allow students to choose games on their level to work on in order to be successful. I have included resources like Bookflix and Tumblebooks where students can choose books based on their interests and needs.
I have them all organized by subject on my student link page. There are also some resources that are school provided such as Envision Math, that my students need access to for testing and math enrichment and reteaching. I also try to add sites that I feel will complement the standards that I am teaching.
Artifact 2 is a lesson that I made for my classroom. Students were able to choose a learning activity based on their interests. Some chose to create a PowerPoint, others wrote in journals, and still others were able to take pictures and present them in order to meet the learning objectives.

My district decided to change the location of our website this summer, so I included my webpage from the 2013-2014 school year.

NETS 2d
d. provide students with multiple and varied formative and summative assessments aligned with content and technology standards and use resulting data to inform learning and teaching.
I chose to use discussion, drawings, and writing about maps as part of my formative assessment in artifact 1. Those assessments helped me to know what vocabulary needed to be taught in regards to maps, and it also allowed me to see what the students were understanding during the instruction. Their summative assessment allowed me to see if they had understood the standards that had been presented to them.
In the second example, Triangle for Adaora, formative assessment was done as students pair/shared with a partner as I observed. That assessment helped me to know where to go with discussion and it also helped me to clarify directions when needed. As part of the summative assessment, I used a rubric to assess their understanding as the presented their findings. If they did not do well with the rubric, I would have needed to change the lesson and instruct them in a different way to accomplish the goals set in the standards.
