Advanced Integration of Technology into the K-12 Curriculum eMINTS comp year 2
This class was the culminating class for my eMINTS training, and I truly enjoyed the knowledge and skills I gained while taking it. In this course one of the projects was to create a multimedia project to use in instructing my students. Not only did it push me to use a different technology tool, but I also created a map to outline my presentation before creating it. I learned of the value that a map can give to a project. It helps to insure that you don’t leave out important details in the presentation.
I also had to explore the use of analytical tools in the classroom. I focused on Google and the many different tools it has to offer. I was able to interact with the tools so that I was able to instruct my own students on how to use them. I like the fact that in helping my students meet common core needs with technology, I am preparing them for their future which will definitely include technology.
Making my unit plan on understanding poetry was most beneficial. Not only was it a fun way for my students to interact with poetry and technology, but it also taught me the value of being able to house a unit on a site like Weebly. I loved the ease with which my students were able to move through the unit as they collaborated with their classmates. It also was a place where they could share their projects with their parents effortlessly. Because of that project, I now see the value of units in the classroom and sites created using tools like Weebly make it possible. Students met their standards and learned 21st Century skills at the same time.
