5. Engage in Professional Growth and Leadership
Teachers continuously improve their professional practice, model lifelong learning, and exhibit leadership in their school and professional community by promoting and demonstrating the effective use of digital tools and resources. Teachers:
NETS 5a
a. participate in local and global learning communities to explore creative applications of technology to improve student learning.
The first artifact is a reflection of webinars that I attended to learn more about technology from those outside of my local world. I learned about new technology programs, and it also made me more aware of using different devices in the classroom when students bring them from home. It was eye-opening to think of the powerful use of those devices and how you have to logistically plan for that.
Artifact 2 is a local training program. The eMINTS trainer offers different trainings each semester for educators. The artifact was from Edmodo where we communicate as a group and also different links are posted for the group on that site.

b. exhibit leadership by demonstrating a vision of technology infusion, participating in shared decision making and community building, and developing the leadership and technology skills of others.
The first artifact was created for teachers to use in the classroom to help create a bully free environment and give resources to help with community building. The wiki was created as part of a group project in the course, Learning with the Internet.
The second artifact is not only a way to instruct others on the technology of using Animoto, but the process of designing the learning taught me how to use that design for other technology tools. Being able to instruct others will help me to be a lead others in their learning of new technology.

Team Building and Anti-bullying
Artifact 2
Using Animoto in the Classroom
NETS 5c
c. evaluate and reflect on current research and professional practice on a regular basis to make effective use of existing and emerging digital tools and resources in support of student learning.
Artifact 1 was taken from the discussion board for my course in Action Research. We looked at different research sites to evaluate them so that we could determine their usefulness for our class. Because action research is done daily in our classrooms, these sites will be very helpful.
Artifact 2 is an observation I made in another classroom. It helped me to reflect on what I had learned in my technology classes and the practices that I observed and how the two fit together. I was able to make plans and strategize for the way that I wanted to use technology with my own students to aid in their learning experiences with technology.

NETS 5d
d. contribute to the effectiveness, vitality, and self-renewal of the teaching profession and of their school and community.
The first artifact was a reflection for an online conference that I attended in the winter. Learning about new ways to use technology and hearing first-hand how other educators use technology in their classrooms always helps me to look at the classroom situation in a different light and helps me to be a more effective instructor. I am able to reflect on my practices and mesh new ideas to make for more targeted instruction.
Artifact 2 is a reflection of my eMINTS training. That training along with the courses I have taken toward my degree have encouraged me in my use of technology and renewed my love of teaching. After being an educator for 21 years, I was surprised to find out how excited I could get about changes in education. But, because of the learning that has taken place and the changes in technology and the CCSS, I am again excited about the improvements that I am seeing in education.
