Learning with the Internet
Collaborating with other students that I had never met before using wiki was a major benefit of this course. Not only did I have to be clear when communicating online, but I also had to keep in mind that everyone is different and can interpret communication in different ways. My group experience was wonderful in that each member seemed to keep others in mind as the collaboration took place. Also, each of us seemed to have our own talents which blended together seamlessly for a great project. One of the members was experienced with using wikis and shared that experience so that the rest of us could collaborate together using that tool. We also made sure that we met our deadlines so that each of us shared part of the load of the assignment. The project was a site that had resources for educators to use when dealing with bullying. The topic was something that I normally would not have thought to explore, but through the project, I found resources that were useful for all educators.
I also had to create my own project for using technology. I chose to create a blog about poetry which eventually led to the creation of a month long project that meets the common core standards and was a wonderful unit that I used with my students. This course opened my eyes to all of the possibilities of learning with the internet.
